News Release Overland Park KS - June 14 2005:

Saturday June 11, 2005, Topeka Ramada Inn -- at the yearly Kansas state conference of the American GI Forum in Topeka, Kansas, the following officers were elected by the membership:

State Commander, Rudy Padilla - Overland Park.

State Vice-Commander, Chad Lopez - Topeka.

State Executive Secretary, Art Balandran - Topeka.

State Recording Secretary, Robert DeLaRosa - Garden City.

Sgt. of Arms, Manuel Lopez - Dodge City.

State Treasurer, Raymond Velasquez – Ulysses

State Parliamentarian, David Rodriguez – Hutchinson

Special Assistant to the State Commander, David Muro – Kansas City

Awards received at the Awards Banquet Dinner for the 2004 - 2005 year were:

Mrs. Connie Negrete for “Woman Forumeer of the Year.”

Ulysses Kansas Chapter Youth for “Outstanding Youth Forum.”

Kansas City Metro Chapter for “Outstanding Kansas State AGIF Chapter.”

The American GI Forum, a Hispanic veteran’s family organization was established in 1948 by Founder, Dr. Hector Perez Garcia in Corpus Christi , Texas.  The organization’s many activities, preceded the civil rights movements of the 1960’s by several years.
